I chose 5 stars because I strongly recommend this book to any one who would enjoy a well written Christian romance story. Barbara Howard has become one of new favorite authors. I couldn't put the book down. it is the second book I have read by her. I look forward to reading many more. She is warm and the way she writes took me on a surprising journey.Product details

Well written storyline with well developed characters hooked me into their story from the very beginning and kept me totally captivated until the very end!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
a great Christian romance novel, and her best book to date. I read this book in its early stages and she had changed a lot from when she actually published it. I have to say the edits were to her credit, it really improved the flow of the book, and the storyline.
I highly recommend this book. I do however purchase it on .ca
Given the age group that this sweet coming of age romance is targeting, Abandon Ship does hit all the right buttons and I would have no qualms recommending this book to teenagers. Nicole is faced with making a choice between turning her back on her family who have given her every opportunity and striking out on her own. Wisely, Nicole's mother puts her in a situation that once the choice is made, she can't turn back and change her mind. This took me to a time in my early twenties when I made a similar choice, which resulted in my travelling through Europe for a year and it was only my mother's ultimatum that kept me going. I was therefore able to identify strongly with Nicole's struggle to stick to her choices and make the best of them. Brandon is a moody young man who loves his family and when Nicole comes on board the ferry where he also works, he resents her presence as the job should have gone to someone who was more deserving of it, in his opinion. This story speaks of the struggles of an emerging adult who needs to find her place, taking responsibility for her actions, realising that with every choice there are consequences and learning to recognise motives in other people. One forgets just how difficult those youthful years are until you look back at them. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a well written Christian romance. The story has well drawn characters and is a great read. Barbara Howard is a new to me favorite author. I could not put the book down until I had finished the story!
